Diane Barred nee Bridge, age 71, of Naperville, Ill. and formerly a longtime resident of Mt. Prospect, passed away Thursday June 4, 2009 at her daughter's home in Naperville. She was born September 30, 1937 in Huntington and was a proud "Hoosier." Diane along with her partner and longtime friend was the owner of The Book Rack on Dundee Rd. in Buffalo Grove, Ill. She operated her business from 1979 to 1997. She was a longtime member of Community Presbyterian Church in Mt. Prospect prior to her illness. Diane enjoyed reading and the customers she met over her 18 years in the business. In addition she was a beloved aunt, a great hostess and cook who enjoyed entertaining and spoiling her grandchildren. Mrs. Barred suffered from Progressive Supranuclear Palsy for the last 10 years of her life. |
Mary Frances Dillon, 83, of Terre Haute, formerly of Maryvale Apartments at St. Mary-of-the-Woods, passed away at 3:23 a.m. Friday, June 12, 2009 in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. She retired from Wiemuth and Son in Terre Haute. She was born May 24, 1926, in Mecca, to Ralph B. Cassidy and Bea Kinsey Cassidy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Dillon, on April 22, 1982. Survivors include five children, Michael J. Dillon of Terre Haute, Joan M. Stahl and her husband Peter of Henderson, Ky., twin sons, Robert J. Dillon and his wife Kathy of Fontanet and Charles P. Dillon and his wife Connie of Humble, Texas, and David J. Dillon and his wife Susan M. Dillon of Terre Haute; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles Cassidy. She was a longtime member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Terre Haute and more recently attended the St. Mary's Village Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday in the St. Mary's Village Church with the Rev. Bernard Head officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, with a wake service at 6:30 p.m. There will also be visitation Monday morning in the funeral home with prayers at 10:30 a.m. and procession to the church. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Woods Daycare with envelopes available in the funeral home. |

Cousins Effie Nash, Sherry Sutton, Hilda Keene, Pete and Robbie Tribby, and Brenda and Rick Voll also survive.Mrs. Petzold was a devoted grandmother and spent her years focused on her family and friends. "Granny," as she was known to many, led her daughter and grandchildren on many an adventure, frequently taking them on camping and sightseeing trips all over the country. She was not afraid to hook up a travel trailer and come by for a loved one to share the experience with. Granny was both bold and caring.In early adulthood, Ruth worked at Quaker Maid, then the A and P Tea Company, before going into business with her husband, Martin T. Petzold. Together they developed and operated the 40 West Mobile Home Park for some 20 years. Mrs. Petzold retired from that business in 1981. Both she and her husband were pioneers in the Indiana Manufactured Housing Association, and both held state office in that organization on more than one occasion. Together they visited almost every state in our country and a great deal of the Western Hemisphere and Europe. The Petzolds frequented Florida for years, with Ruth losing Martin in an accident on one such visit.Ruth was also a staunch Republican. She served as a precinct committee person and president of the Republican Women's Club of Vigo County, as well as an Indiana state delegate to the Republican National Convention in Phoenix. She helped campaign for many local and state candidates. She also spent countless hours registering voters and helping those who needed to cast absentee votes in order to participate in the election process. She did admit on occasion that she had indeed met "a few good Democrats" along the way.Ruth and her family wish to offer a very special thanks to Becky Fisher and Shirley Hedden for their most valuable friendship.Cremation has been scheduled. Private family services are pending. Fitzpatrick Funeral Home assisted with arrangements. |

CLINTON — James "Herman" Rodeghiero was born on Aug. 26, 1920, in Clinton, to Mary Colombo-Rodeghiero and Domenic Rodeghiero. He left us on June 12, 2009, at 9 p.m., in Clinton, of natural causes. Herman "Mondo" was a graduate of Clinton High School in 1938. He married Edith Rosalee France in 1947. Herman by trade was an electrician, and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union Local 725 for more than 55 years. He was a World War II veteran, serving as a staff sergeant with the 38th Bomb Squadron as a armorer/belly gunner in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He received the American Theater, Asiatic-Pacific Theater, Good Conduct and Victory medals. He was honorably discharged on Jan. 9, 1946, after serving his four years. He maintained contact with other veterans through his local Veterans of Foreign Wars post. Herman went on to follow one of his dreams to become a professional baseball pitcher. He was very passionate about the sport. He was drafted by the Brooklyn Dodgers minor league team in 1946, and in one game pitched a no-hitter. An avid fisherman, gardener, and Italian cook, Herman "Nonno" Rodeghiero was known most by his love and respect for his family and pets. He is survived by his son, Jim Rodeghiero of Clinton; daughter, Jan Rodeghiero-Haight (Roy) of Terre Haute; three grandchildren, Casey Cloyd-McGaha (Gary) of Clinton, two grandsons, T.J. Cloyd (Suzanne) and Dane Cloyd (Catie); two great-grandchildren, Mackenzie McGaha and Truman Cloyd; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Wayne and Garrett McGaha; his beloved dachshund, Shorty; and many other loving relatives and friends. A service in his honor will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at Frist Funeral Home, 458 Blackman, with the Rev. Danny Caulkins officiating. Visitation is 11 a.m. until services. Burial is at Walnut Grove Cemetery, with military rites conducted by American Legion Post 140, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6653. In lieu of flowers, Herman would have preferred donations be made to the Parke-Vermillion County animal shelter, which may be left at his service. |

Joseph Henry Taylor Jr., 55, of Terre Haute, died at 8:07 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2009, in Regional Hospital. He was born in Terre Haute on April 21, 1954 to Joseph Henry Taylor Sr. and Macie Leora Edwards Taylor. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He is survived by his parents, Joseph Henry Taylor Sr. and Macie Taylor; and one son, Patric Taylor. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Callahan-DeBaun Funeral Home, 2425 Wabash Ave., with Pastor Bernie Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. |
Thomas E. Paterson, 81, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2009 at his residence in Fort Wayne. Born in Great Britain to George and Hannah (Howarth) Paterson he worked as a Mechanical Engineer with Magnavox retiring in 1990. |
